Advanced Botox Treatment in Margate, Kent

What is advanced Botox?
Advanced Botox treatment uses the same botulinum toxin commonly known as Botox. These are more complex techniques which are only carried out by experienced practitioners.

At Effortless Aesthetics we are trained and experienced in carrying out a range of Advanced Botox procedures. These are sometimes used off-licence however there is a huge amount of evidence and professional opinion to justify their uses.

  • Botox for Excessive Sweating / Hyperhidrosis

Botox can be injected superficially in the armpits, hands or face to inhibit the action of the sweat glands and results in decreased sweating. This procedure takes around 10 minutes and lasts around 6 months. It is suitable for most patients and can significantly increase comfort and quality of life.

Excessive sweating can be a side effect of an underlying medical condition so you will be required to attend your GP first to rule out any medical issues and our Nurse Prescriber will liaise with your GP to confirm this.

  • Botox for Gummy Smile / Smokers Lines / Chin / Bunny Lines / Lip Flip

In very small doses Botox can be injected in the lower face to reduce the appearance of a gummy smile, reduce the contraction of the muscle above the top lip that contributes to smoker’s lines, relax the chin and improve the chin crease and dimpling or in the nose to reduce bunny lines that can sometimes become more obvious after having the upper face treated with Botox.

The Lip Flip procedure involves placing a small amount of Botox just above the lip border to ‘flip out’ the lip line and improve the fullness seen with the lips. This is becoming more popular due to it having less risks than lip filler and is also a great addition when a patient has had lip filler but requires more of a result. These procedures carry some of the same risks as other injectable treatments – bruising, swelling, possible infection. Results can last around 3 months.

How does it work?
The toxin blocks the transition of chemical messages sent from the nerve to cause the muscle to contract. Without these messages, the muscle stays in a resting state until the ‘messengers’ recover. This recovery takes approximately 8 to 12 weeks on average. The aim of this treatment is to significantly reduce the movement of the muscles.

Is advanced Botox painful?
A very fine needle is used and generally this treatment is not painful and can be well tolerated with no anaesthetic. Ice may be helpful in numbing the skin for nervous patients as well as reducing the risk of a bruise. The procedure is very quick sometimes consisting of just 2 injections.

Are there any side effects of advanced Botox?
The risks and complications can include bruising, swelling and itching, all mild in nature. Any treatment with muscle relaxing injections can cause potential spread of the effect to other muscles, this could result in an undesirable change of smile, for example if injecting near the mouth, or potential spread to the cheek. This will be discussed with you at your consultation as each procedure carries a slightly different risk and will be individual to you. We also can never guarantee the results, she patients will see a huge improvement from their treatment, whilst others may only see a slight change.

Am I a candidate for advanced Botox?
Your practitioner will take a detailed medical history and an assessment of your needs and expectations to ensure this is an appropriate treatment for you. Your practitioner will assess your suitability and advise.

Botulinum toxin type A cannot be given to pregnant or breast-feeding women.

Not suitable for patients with certain neurological disorders.

Not suitable for patients with autoimmune disorders and bleeding disorders.

Caution advised if you are currently taking certain medicines, such as aspirin, warfarin or oral steroids.

How many treatments do I need?
Most of the procedures require one session every 3 months a review appointment at 2-4 weeks will be offered and a ‘top up’ will be added if required (this would be determined by your practitioner on their assessment of you). We have to use small doses in these areas to reduce the risk of side effects, which means they have usually worn off by 3 months, sometimes sooner. To maintain the effects, you would need to have treatment roughly every 3 -4 months.
