Microneedling Pen – Derma FNS in Margate, Kent

What is Microneedling?
Microneedling involves pricking the skin with tiny, sterilized needles. The small wounds cause your body to make more collagen and elastin. It can be used for all areas of the face, body and neck.

How does microneedling work?
An automated dermal needling device painlessly creates many thousands of tiny holes to the bottom layer of the skin to encourage skin rejuvenation and promote complete skin remodelling from scars, stretch marks, lines and wrinkles. These tiny channels stimulate the skin’s natural healing process, and it begins to dissolve old, rigid collagen whilst then releasing serum growth factors, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastic development. At Effortless Aesthetics, we are committed to patient safety, the DERMA FNS surgical grade steel needle heads are sealed to ensure no cross-contamination risk, whilst many other pens cannot say the same. The unique motor function enables the needles to fully retract before reinsertion, allowing the pen to glide over the skin with minimal catching, inducing less surface trauma and therefore reducing healing time.

A range of targeted serums and or creams (individually tailored depending on skin type) may be applied before and after the skin needling process. All areas of the face can be treated due to the adjustable needle depth making this treatment great for the under-eye area. The body can be treated also (stretch marks / scarring). You will usually be in the clinic for up to 2 hours and will receive detailed aftercare advice along with product recommendations to aid in the recovery process.

Is it painful?
Some mild discomfort may be experienced during treatment; however, treatment protocol involves the application of a numbing cream 30 minutes before treatment to the area being treated to reduce any discomfort.

Are there any potential side effects?
Skin will be very red and warm for 24-48 hours post treatment and peeling usually occurs around day 2-4. It is crucial that you stay out of the direct sunlight, apply SPF and avoid exercise for the stated times in your aftercare advice sheet. There is the potential for infection and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation if aftercare instructions are not followed.

Am I a candidate?
Microneedling is generally safe for all skin types, but those who are pregnant, have a history of eczema, psoriasis, herpes, diabetes and other chronic conditions may be unsuitable for treatment, however a skin consultation will take place prior to treatment.

How many treatments do I need?
Best results will be seen 4 weeks post treatment however results will continue to be seen around 6 months later. A course of 3 or more is usually recommended but it is crucial you attend a consultation first to discuss your individual requirements and suitability in more detail.
