Polynucleotides
Polynucleotide Treatment in Margate, Kent
What are Polynucleotides?
Plenhyage XL (a polynucleotide) is an elastic, sterile, injectable gel made with polymerised polynucleotides of animal origin (fish).
They are used for Improving skin quality, thickness, hydration, and can promote new collagen formation.
How do Polynucleotides work?
Thanks to its biochemical properties, Plenhyage XL improves skin elasticity and is effective against ageing and photoaging signs, such as wrinkles, loss of skin firmness, loss of tone and elasticity, and lip atrophy (loss in lip volume). It is also effective for treating fibrous tissues, such as scars. The polynucleotide chain binds water molecules, has an anti-free radical action, and serves as a scavenger of hydroxyl radicals, which accumulate under stress or due to foreign agents, such a UV radiation. Its hydration and anti-free radical activity help create the optimal environment for fibroblast growth, thereby restoring tissue elasticity.
This product can be used on various parts of the body: neck, cleavage, face (periocular area, cheeks, cheekbones), back of the hands, abdomen, thighs and glutes.
Is it painful?
Polynucleotide treatments are relatively pain free; however, you may feel a slight discomfort at the point of injection. Numbing cream is applied prior to treatment to minimise discomfort.
Are there any potential side effects?
Following treatment, some side effects may occur related to the injection. These reactions include: swelling, which normally disappears within a few hours, and in some cases redness which normally disappears within a few hours. Small oedema or puffiness may sometimes appear, more so around the eye area, but this should reabsorb within a few days or 2 weeks at the most.
Am I a candidate?
Most patients are suitable for this treatment if they are showing early signs of ageing, loss of elasticity or hydration to areas of their skin. Contraindications include but are not limited to; pregnancy, breastfeeding, autoimmune conditions, allergies to ingredients, infections.
How many treatments do I need?
Optimal results can be obtained by repeating the treatment regularly over time, considering the various factors that contribute to the duration of the effects of the injections, such as lifestyle, physical exercise, exposure to sunlight or tanning lamps and age. We usually advise 3 sessions roughly 2-4 weeks apart for initial treatment, then maintenance of 1 session every 6-12 months.
